About 6 h 21 min of reading44 chapters

Gallipoli Diary is the record kept by General Sir Ian Hamilton, commander of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force in the Dardanelles campaign of 1915, and published in 1920. This second volume opens in July 1915, as reinforcements arrive and Kitchener's advice reaches him, and follows the August offensive at Sari Bair and the landing at Suvla, the failure of the attacks, the last battle, misunderstandings with London, the debates over French plans and the claims of Loos and Salonika, and finally his recall in October. Appendices print his instructions, orders and correspondence, making it a key source for a disputed campaign. The full text is available to read online in your browser on Vinteuil, and the first chapter is free.
