Dick, Marjorie and Fidge: A Search for the Wonderful Dodo is a nonsense fantasy by G. E. Farrow, author of The Wallypug of Why, published at the end of the 1890s with drawings by Alan Wright. Three children wake to find the ground floor of their house flooded by a high tide and sail out of the breakfast-room window into a world of talking creatures: a Sage in an onion field who tells stories and tails, the King of the Fishes, a Dodo hunted by the Little Panjandrum, the North Pole, the skipper of the Argonaut, an Archaeopteryx, a prehistoric doctor and the Crystal Palace, before a train returns them to London. Farrow's manner is Carroll's, puns included. The full text is available to read online in your browser on Vinteuil, and the first chapter is free.
