George Edward Farrow, born in 1862, was an English writer of nonsense fantasies for children in the tradition of Lewis Carroll. His first success, The Wallypug of Why, published in 1895 with illustrations by Harry Furniss, introduced a kingdom whose ruler is governed by his subjects, and he followed it with The Missing Prince, Adventures in Wallypug Land, The Little Panjandrum's Dodo, Dick, Marjorie and Fidge and many other books in which ordinary children fall among talking animals, pedantic officials and puns. He answered his young readers' letters personally. His later years are obscure, and he is thought to have died around 1919.
