Limanora
A castaway in the Pacific, having escaped from the archipelago of exiles described in Riallaro, reaches Limanora, an island whose people have spent thousands of years deliberately improving themselves. He is educated in their science of the electric sense, their flight-cars, their valley of memories and their arts of thought, and in a second book describes their inner life and the moral selection by which they weed out the unfit. Godfrey Sweven was the pen name of John Macmillan Brown, a professor at Canterbury College in New Zealand, and he published the book in 1903 with a glossary of invented words. It is a utopia in the full sense, didactic, strange and often prophetic about technology. It is available to read online in your browser on Vinteuil, with the first chapter free.
