Expositions of Holy Scripture
Second Corinthians, Galatians, and Philippians Chapters I to End. Colossians, Thessalonians, and First Timothy.
This volume of Alexander Maclaren's Expositions of Holy Scripture covers the second half of Second Corinthians, from chapter seven to the end, and the letters to the Galatians, Philippians, Colossians and Thessalonians and the First Epistle to Timothy. Maclaren, the Baptist minister who preached in Manchester for forty-five years, was regarded as the finest expository preacher of Victorian Britain, and the series collects his sermons arranged in the order of the biblical text. Each takes a verse or short passage of Paul, draws out its argument and applies it to the conduct of ordinary Christian life. The sermons are clear, closely reasoned and free of ornament, and they remain in use among preachers and readers of the Bible. The full text is available to read online in your browser on Vinteuil, and the first chapter is free.
