This third volume of the poetry in Ernest Hartley Coleridge's edition of Byron's works, published in 1900, covers the years of his greatest fame in London, 1809 to 1816. It contains the occasional poems of those years, the Eastern tales that sold by the thousand, The Giaour, The Bride of Abydos, The Corsair and Lara, the Ode to Napoleon Buonaparte written on the emperor's abdication, the Hebrew Melodies, including She Walks in Beauty and The Destruction of Sennacherib, and The Siege of Corinth and Parisina. It closes with the Poems of the Separation, Fare Thee Well and A Sketch, written as Byron's marriage collapsed and he prepared to leave England for good. The editor's introductions and notes record the circumstances of each poem. It is available to read online in your browser on Vinteuil, with the first poems free.
