About 11 h 33 min of reading62 chapters

The Man in the Iron Mask is the final section of Alexandre Dumas's The Vicomte de Bragelonne, the last of the Musketeers novels, usually published as a book of its own. Aramis, now General of the Jesuits, has discovered that a prisoner in the Bastille is the twin brother of Louis XIV, and he plans to exchange the two at a great fete given by the minister Fouquet at Vaux-le-Vicomte. The plot draws in Porthos, who thinks he is pursuing a dukedom, and d'Artagnan, whose loyalty to the king is tested against his love for his friends, and it ends in the flight to Belle-Isle and the grotto of Locmaria. The four musketeers meet their separate fates in these chapters. The full text is available to read online in your browser on Vinteuil, and the first chapter is free.
