About 11 h 24 min of reading107 chapters

Gods and Fighting Men, first published in 1904 with a preface by W. B. Yeats, is Lady Gregory's retelling of the Irish myths of the Tuatha Dé Danann and of Finn and the Fianna, a companion to her Cuchulain of Muirthemne. The first part tells of the gods: the coming of the Tuatha Dé Danann, the reign of Bres, Lugh of the Long Hand and the battle of Magh Tuireadh, the arrival of the Gael, and the ever-living ones such as the Dagda, Angus Óg, the Morrigu and Manannan. The second follows Finn and his warriors. Gregory translated from the Irish into the English of the Galway countryside, a style that marked the Irish literary revival. The full text is available to read online in your browser on Vinteuil, and the first chapter is free.
