This is the seventh of eight volumes of William Knight's edition of the poetical works of William Wordsworth, which arranges the poems in the order they were written. It covers the 1820s and early 1830s, when the poet was in his fifties and sixties: the Ecclesiastical Sonnets, a sequence tracing the history of the church in England from the Druids to the poet's own day; the Yarrow Revisited collection, with its memories of Scott; the poems written during a tour of the Isle of Man and Scotland in the summer of 1833; and a body of miscellaneous sonnets and shorter pieces. Knight supplies the dates and the poet's own notes. It is Wordsworth late, quieter and more conservative, but still working. It is available to read online in your browser on Vinteuil, with the first poems free.
