Cooley's Cyclopædia of Practical Receipts and Collateral Information in the Arts, Manufactures, Professions, and Trades..., Sixth Edition, Volume II
Cooley's Cyclopaedia of Practical Receipts was the Victorian household's and tradesman's reference book, first compiled by Arnold James Cooley in the 1840s and here presented in the sixth edition of 1880, revised and enlarged by Richard V. Tuson, professor of chemistry at the Royal Veterinary College. This second volume carries the alphabet from lithographic ink through the remaining letters, with entries on medicines, pharmacy, foods and beverages, dyes, varnishes, metals, perfumery, photography, poisons and their antidotes, and domestic economy, each giving formulas, quantities and sources. A list of works consulted and a full index complete the set. The full text is available to read online in your browser on Vinteuil, and the opening pages are free.
