The Mysteries of Free Masonry
Containing All the Degrees of the Order Conferred in a Master's Lodge
The Mysteries of Free Masonry reproduces the exposé of Masonic ritual attributed to William Morgan of Batavia, New York, whose disappearance in 1826, shortly before his book appeared, led to the anti-Masonic movement in American politics. This edition, revised by George R. Crafts, sets out the ceremonies of opening and closing lodges, the initiations, oaths and lectures of the first three degrees, and then those of the Royal Arch, the Knights Templar and many higher degrees. It closes with a historical sketch of Morgan's kidnapping. It is a document of a famous controversy as much as of the rituals themselves.
