About 49 min of reading10 chapters

The Common Sense of Sex is a short essay by the American poet James Oppenheim, published in 1926 as one of the Little Blue Books, the cheap pocket pamphlets of the Haldeman-Julius company in Kansas. Oppenheim, who had become a lay analyst in the school of Carl Jung, argues for a frank and balanced attitude toward sexuality. He discusses what was then called abnormal sexuality and the "third sex," the art of love, sexuality in relation to the four psychological functions, and energy turned to the wrong ends, before offering practical advice and a closing reflection on love. The tone is sympathetic and direct. The full text is available to read online in your browser on Vinteuil, and the first chapter is free.
