Albert Jeremiah Beveridge (1862–1927) was an American politician and historian. Born in Ohio and raised in poverty in Illinois, he became a lawyer in Indianapolis and served as a Republican senator from Indiana from 1899 to 1911, where he championed child labor laws, meat inspection and American expansion overseas. After following Theodore Roosevelt into the Progressive Party and losing his seat, he turned to history. His four-volume Life of John Marshall (1916–1919) won the Pulitzer Prize, and he was at work on a life of Abraham Lincoln, published unfinished, when he died.
