The Secret Doctrine, Vol. 3 of 4

by H. P. Blavatsky

The Synthesis of Science, Religion, and Philosophy

About 16 h 29 min of reading152 chapters

This third volume of The Secret Doctrine was published in 1897, six years after H. P. Blavatsky's death, from papers edited by Annie Besant, and is the most disputed part of the work. Its fifty-one sections deal with the history and meaning of the Mysteries: the origin of magic and the secrecy of initiates, the Book of Enoch, Hermetic and Kabalistic doctrine, Simon Magus, Apollonius of Tyana and the post-Christian adepts, Egyptian magic, the Eleusinian and other mysteries and their survival, astrology and star worship, cycles and avatars, and the mystery of Buddha. A second part prints the papers Blavatsky wrote for the Esoteric Section on colors, sounds, principles and the practice of concentration, with notes on her oral teachings. The full text is available to read online in your browser on Vinteuil, and the first chapter is free.
