The game of life and how to play it
The Game of Life and How to Play It, published in 1925, is Florence Scovel Shinn's statement of the New Thought teaching she gave in New York for years. Life, she says, is a game played by spiritual law: what we give out in word and thought returns to us, fear attracts what we fear, and faith, forgiveness and the spoken affirmation open the way to what she calls the divine design for each person. The chapters on the law of prosperity, the law of karma, the power of the word and intuition are illustrated with stories of her students, told briskly and with humor. Shinn was an illustrator before she was a teacher; the book is short, concrete and quotable. The full text is available to read online in your browser on Vinteuil, and the first chapter is free.
