Mabini's Decalogue for Filipinos
Apolinario Mabini, the lawyer and political thinker known as the brains of the Philippine Revolution, wrote his "True Decalogue" as a moral and civic code for his countrymen in the struggle for independence. This short edition was printed by the Philippine Press Bureau in Washington in 1922. It opens with a biographical note on Mabini, his poor family in Batangas, his studies in Manila, his role as chief adviser to Aguinaldo and his later exile, and then gives the ten commandments themselves. They place love of country just after love of God and call for honesty, education, equality and self-government, in plain and earnest language.
