Aristotle

by George Grote

About 25 h 42 min of reading67 chapters

Aristotle is the unfinished work George Grote left at his death in 1871, published the following year by his friends Alexander Bain and George Croom Robertson and here given in the second edition of 1880. Grote, the historian of Greece, had meant to follow his volumes on Plato with a full account of Aristotle, and he completed the life, a survey of the works and the canon, and detailed chapters on the logical treatises, the Categories, De Interpretatione, the Prior and Posterior Analytics and the Topics, with notes on the Metaphysics and the Physics. The editors added two long essays on the Ethics and the Politics found among his papers, together with fragments on Epicurus and the Stoics. The full text is available to read online in your browser on Vinteuil, and the first chapter is free.
