Charles Norris Williamson (1859–1920) was an English journalist and novelist who founded the illustrated magazine Black and White in 1891 and, with his American-born wife Alice Muriel Williamson, wrote a long series of popular romances about motoring, beginning with The Lightning Conductor (1902), the story of a chauffeur who is really a gentleman. Their books, including My Friend the Chauffeur, The Car of Destiny and Lord Loveland Discovers America, combined love stories with travel guides to France, Italy, Spain and England in the earliest years of the automobile, and sold enormously. Alice is thought to have done most of the writing and Charles the motoring and research.
