Minor Dialogues, Together With the Dialogue on Clemency
Minor Dialogues, translated by Aubrey Stewart in 1889, collects the moral essays of the Roman Stoic Seneca. It contains the twelve so-called dialogues addressed to friends and family: On Providence, On the Firmness of the Wise Man, the three books On Anger, the consolations to Marcia, to his mother Helvia and to Polybius, On the Happy Life, On Leisure, On Peace of Mind and On the Shortness of Life. The volume ends with the two books On Clemency, written for the young Nero when Seneca was his tutor and adviser. Seneca argues that anger is always a mistake, that time wasted is the only real loss and that a good life is within reach of anyone willing to govern the mind.
