Dracula's Guest

by Bram Stoker

About 3 h 49 min of reading10 chapters

Dracula's Guest and Other Weird Stories was assembled by Bram Stoker's widow and published in 1914, two years after his death. The title piece, generally taken to be an episode cut from Dracula, follows an Englishman who ignores his coachman's warnings on Walpurgis Night and finds himself alone in a snowstorm near a deserted village and a tomb. Eight more tales follow: The Judge's House, The Squaw, The Secret of the Growing Gold, The Gipsy Prophecy, The Coming of Abel Behenna, The Burial of the Rats, A Dream of Red Hands and Crooken Sands. Rats, revenants, a vengeful cat and a Nuremberg torture chamber supply the horrors, with a vein of grim humor. The full text is available to read online in your browser on Vinteuil, and the first story is free.
