Sir Edward Tyas Cook (1857–1919) was an English journalist, editor and biographer. After Oxford he joined W. T. Stead's Pall Mall Gazette and succeeded him as editor in 1890; he later edited the Westminster Gazette and the Daily News, from which he was dismissed in 1901 for supporting the Boer War. With Alexander Wedderburn he produced the thirty-nine-volume Library Edition of the works of John Ruskin (1903–1912), and he wrote lives of Ruskin and of Florence Nightingale (1913), the latter from her papers and still the standard biography. During the First World War he directed the official Press Bureau and was knighted in 1912.
