Jules Lermina (1839–1915) was a French journalist and novelist. A republican imprisoned several times under the Second Empire for his writings, he turned to popular fiction and produced dozens of serial novels, among them Les Loups de Paris and two continuations of Dumas, Le Fils de Monte-Cristo and Le Tresor de Monte-Cristo, which were translated into English in the collected editions of Dumas. Under the name William Cobb he wrote detective stories, and he compiled a Dictionnaire universel illustre and a dictionary of Parisian slang. In later life he was drawn to occultism and published fantastic tales and studies of magic.
