Holman Day (1865–1935) was an American writer from Vassalboro, Maine, who worked as a newspaperman in Bangor and Lewiston and first became known for Up in Maine (1900), a collection of dialect verse about his state. He followed it with more than twenty novels set among Maine's lumber camps, river drivers, coastal towns and legislative lobbies, including King Spruce, The Landloper, Blow the Man Down and The Rider of the King Log, and with plays and short stories for the national magazines. In the early 1920s he founded his own film company in Augusta to make movies in Maine, and when it failed he moved to California, where he died.
