Benjamin Franklin Cocker (1821–1883) was an American philosopher and Methodist minister. Born in Yorkshire, England, he worked in trade and preached before emigrating, by way of Australia and New Zealand, to the United States in 1857, where he held pastorates in Michigan. From 1869 until his death he was professor of mental and moral philosophy at the University of Michigan, where he was remembered as a powerful teacher. His books Christianity and Greek Philosophy, The Theistic Conception of the World and Lectures on the Truth of the Christian Religion sought to reconcile Christian belief with the philosophy and science of his day.
