This second volume continues the survey of the street-folk. It begins with the sellers of second-hand goods, from old metal, glass and musical instruments to the clothes traded at the Old Clothes Exchange and in Petticoat Lane and Rosemary Lane, then turns to the street-buyers and street-finders who gathered rags, bones and refuse, and to the dustmen, sweeps and scavengers who cleaned the city.
