William Brough (1826–1870) was an English playwright, one of the most prolific writers of burlesque and extravaganza for the Victorian stage. The son of a brewer and the brother of the satirist Robert Brough, with whom he wrote his earliest pieces, he produced dozens of rhymed, punning comic travesties of myths, ballets, operas and popular novels, including The Corsair (1856), Perdita, Prince Prettypet and the Butterfly, Endymion and The Field of the Cloth of Gold, which ran for hundreds of nights at the Strand Theatre in 1868. He also wrote comedies and farces and contributed to the comic journals of the day.
