Theophilus G. Pinches

Theophilus Goldridge Pinches (1856–1934) was an English Assyriologist. He worked for many years in the department of Egyptian and Assyrian antiquities at the British Museum, where he copied and deciphered thousands of cuneiform tablets, and later taught Assyrian at University College London. He published widely on Babylonian and Assyrian religion, history and language, and in The Old Testament in the Light of the Historical Records and Legends of Assyria and Babylonia he set the new discoveries beside the biblical narratives for a general readership.
