Sir Wilfred Thomason Grenfell (1865–1940) was an English physician and medical missionary. Born at Parkgate in Cheshire, he studied medicine at the London Hospital, where a sermon by the American evangelist Dwight Moody turned him toward missionary work, and joined the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen. In 1892 he sailed to Labrador and devoted the rest of his career to its fishermen and settlers, founding hospitals, nursing stations, schools, cooperatives and the International Grenfell Association. In 1908 he survived a night adrift on an ice floe, described in Adrift on an Ice-Pan. He was knighted in 1927.
