Sir Henry Keppel (1809–1904) was a British naval officer, a son of the Earl of Albemarle, whose career spanned almost the whole Victorian age. In command of HMS Dido in the early 1840s he fought against the pirates of Borneo alongside James Brooke, the Rajah of Sarawak, and published an account of the expedition. He later served in the Crimean War and in China, rose to admiral of the fleet and was a friend of the Prince of Wales. Lively and adventurous, he was one of the best known sailors of his day and wrote his memoirs, A Sailor's Life under Four Sovereigns.
