Samuel Pegge (1704–1796) was an English antiquary and clergyman. Educated at Chesterfield and St. John's College, Cambridge, he held livings in Kent and then for more than forty years at Whittington in Derbyshire, where he continued to write until his death at ninety-one. He contributed scores of papers to Archaeologia and to the Gentleman's Magazine, often under the anagram Paul Gemsege, on coins, inscriptions, church history and manners, and edited the medieval cookery roll The Forme of Cury in 1780. His son of the same name was also an antiquary, and the two are often confused.
