Richard Davey was an English journalist and writer of popular history active in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He traveled in the Ottoman Empire and wrote The Sultan and His Subjects, a portrait of Turkish society, as well as The Pageant of London, a history of the city told through its great occasions. For a series of romantic histories edited by Martin Hume, he wrote The Nine Days' Queen (1909), a biography of Lady Jane Grey, and The Sisters of Lady Jane Grey and Their Wicked Grandfather. His books combine archival research with a lively, anecdotal style.
