Mrs. Alec Tweedie (1862–1940), born Ethel Brilliana Harley, was an English travel writer. The daughter of the physician George Harley, she married Alexander Tweedie in 1887 and, after his early death in 1896 left her with two sons to support, made her living by her pen. A Girl's Ride in Iceland (1889) was followed by Through Finland in Carts, Mexico As I Saw It, Porfirio Díaz, Hyde Park and America As I Saw It, among many others, and by volumes of memoirs. She was a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and painted and exhibited watercolors. Both her sons were killed in the First World War.
