Mary Devereux

Mary Devereux was an American novelist of the turn of the twentieth century whose books were published by Little, Brown of Boston. From Kingdom to Colony (1899), her best-known work, is a historical romance of the American Revolution set in Marblehead, Massachusetts, among a family descended from the Norman Devereux, and draws on traditions of her own family. She followed it with Lafitte of Louisiana (1902), a novel of the pirate and the Battle of New Orleans, and Up and Down the Sands of Gold, a contemporary story. Little else is recorded of her life.
