Levi Seeley

Levi Seeley (1847–1928) was an American educator. Born in New York State, he taught in public schools, studied in Germany and took a doctorate at Leipzig with a dissertation on the common schools of Germany, and after service as a school superintendent became professor of pedagogy at the New Jersey State Normal School in Trenton, where he taught for many years. His History of Education (1899), written for normal-school students, went through several revisions and was widely adopted; he also wrote The Foundations of Education, A New School Management, Elementary Pedagogy and a report on the German school system, and lectured to teachers' institutes across the country.
