Leander S. Keyser

Leander Sylvester Keyser (1856–1937) was an American Lutheran minister, theologian and naturalist. Alongside his work as a pastor and later as professor of theology at Wittenberg College in Ohio, he wrote many popular books on birds, among them In Bird Land, Birds of the Rockies, Bird-Dom and News from the Birds, which combined careful field observation with a warm, religious delight in nature. In his theological writings he defended traditional Christian belief and argued against evolutionary naturalism.
