Leonard Leslie Brooke (1862–1940) was an English illustrator and writer of children's books. Born in Birkenhead and trained at the Royal Academy Schools, he succeeded Walter Crane as illustrator of Mrs. Molesworth's stories and made his name with The Nursery Rhyme Book edited by Andrew Lang (1897). His own picture books, Johnny Crow's Garden (1903) and its sequels, and the series of Leslie Brooke's Little Books retelling nursery tales such as The Story of the Three Little Pigs, The Golden Goose and Tom Thumb, were praised for their humor and their expressive, finely observed animals. He also illustrated Edward Lear and the Ring o' Roses collection of rhymes.
