John Gregorson Campbell (1836–1891) was a Scottish Gaelic folklorist and minister of the Church of Scotland. Born at Kingairloch in Argyll, he was educated at Glasgow and in 1861 became minister of Tiree and Coll, where he spent the rest of his life collecting the tales, songs, charms and beliefs of his Gaelic-speaking parishioners. His collections include The Fians, Clan Traditions and Popular Tales of the Western Highlands and Islands, and the two posthumous volumes Superstitions of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland and Witchcraft and Second Sight in the Highlands and Islands, which record the fairy and spirit lore of the Hebrides as it was told.
