Jack Saul

Jack Saul was an Irish-born young man who worked as a male prostitute in Victorian London and whose name is attached to The Sins of the Cities of the Plain, a pornographic narrative privately printed in 1881 as his recollections. Whether he had any hand in writing it is uncertain. Saul himself was a real figure: in 1890 he gave evidence in the libel trial that followed the Cleveland Street scandal, describing the hidden world of male brothels frequented by aristocrats. Little else is securely known of his life.
