Ingersoll Lockwood

Ingersoll Lockwood (1841–1918) was an American lawyer and writer from Ossining, New York. Appointed consul to the Kingdom of Hanover by Abraham Lincoln at the age of twenty-one, he returned to practice law in New York and wrote in his spare time, producing a legal handbook, plays, comic sketches and books for children. He is remembered for two fantasies about a boy aristocrat, Travels and Adventures of Little Baron Trump and His Wonderful Dog Bulger and Baron Trump's Marvellous Underground Journey, and for the dystopian 1900; or, The Last President. The books were little noticed until a century later, when their names drew new readers.
