Harold John Edward Peake (1867–1946) was an English archaeologist and anthropologist. The son of a clergyman, he studied at Oxford and worked for a time in Canada before settling at Boxford in Berkshire, where he was honorary curator of the Newbury Museum for forty years and excavated local sites. The Bronze Age and the Celtic World (1922) traced the movements of peoples through the spread of the leaf-shaped sword; with the geographer H. J. Fleure he wrote The Corridors of Time, a ten-volume history of early humanity published between 1927 and 1956. He was president of the Royal Anthropological Institute in 1926–28.
