Guanzhong Luo

Luo Guanzhong is the name attached to Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the great Chinese historical novel of the wars that followed the fall of the Han dynasty in the third century. He is said to have lived in the fourteenth century, between the Yuan and Ming dynasties, but almost nothing certain is known of him. Tradition also credits him with a hand in Water Margin and with several plays and other historical romances. The novel, built from chronicles and centuries of storytelling, became one of the most read works in Chinese and shaped popular ideas of loyalty, strategy and heroism across East Asia.
