Frank Lewis Dyer (1870–1941) was an American patent lawyer and executive, for many years general counsel to Thomas Edison and president of the companies that controlled Edison's phonograph, motion picture and storage battery businesses. Born in Washington, he joined Edison's laboratory at West Orange, New Jersey, in 1903 and became one of his closest associates. With the electrical engineer and editor Thomas Commerford Martin he wrote Edison: His Life and Inventions (1910), the authorized biography, drawing on Edison's own reminiscences and on the records of his laboratories; it remained the chief source on the inventor for a generation.
