Francis Patrick Duffy (1871–1932) was a Canadian-born American Catholic priest, the most famous military chaplain in the history of the United States Army. A professor at Saint Joseph's Seminary in New York and a pastor in the Bronx, he became chaplain of the 69th New York Infantry and went with it to France in the First World War as the 165th Infantry. His courage under fire won him many decorations, and his Father Duffy's Story told the regiment's history. He later served as pastor of Holy Cross Church near Times Square, where a square now bears his name.
