Florence Holbrook

Florence Holbrook (1860–1932) was an American educator and author of school readers. For many years she was principal of the Forestville School in Chicago. Her books for children, including the Hiawatha Primer, The Book of Nature Myths, Round the Year in Myth and Song and the Dramatic Reader for Lower Grades, retold myths, legends and familiar stories in simple language and encouraged children to read aloud and act out the tales.
