Edgar Fawcett

Edgar Fawcett was a pioneer resident and local historian of Victoria, British Columbia. Born in Australia to a family from Kidderminster in England, he was taken to San Francisco as a small child in 1850 and came north to Vancouver Island during the gold-rush years, when Victoria was still a Hudson's Bay Company fort. He lived there for decades and in 1912 published Some Reminiscences of Old Victoria, a memoir of the colony's early streets, officials, churches, fire companies and pioneer families, written while recovering from typhoid. He is not the American novelist of the same name.
