Charlotte Mary Yonge (1823–1901) was an English novelist who lived all her life in the Hampshire village of Otterbourne, under the influence of John Keble, her parish priest and a leader of the Oxford Movement. The Heir of Redclyffe in 1853 was one of the most admired novels of its decade, and she wrote some 160 books in all: family chronicles like The Daisy Chain, historical tales such as The Little Duke and The Dove in the Eagle's Nest, and the fairy-tale retelling Love and Life. She edited The Monthly Packet, a magazine for Anglican girls, for nearly forty years and gave most of her earnings to church missions.
