Charles Warren Haskins

Charles Warren Haskins was one of the forty-niners who went to California during the gold rush. Years later he wrote and illustrated The Argonauts of California, published in New York in 1890, a book of reminiscences of the journey west and of life in the early mining camps. He also compiled for it a long list of the names of some thirty-five thousand pioneers of the gold rush, which has made the book useful to historians and genealogists.
