Charles Gide (1847–1932) was a French economist. Born at Uzès in the Protestant south, he taught law and economics at Bordeaux, Montpellier and Paris, and held the chair of cooperation at the Collège de France from 1921. He was the leading theorist of the French cooperative movement, the so-called school of Nîmes, and edited the Revue d'économie politique. His Principles of Political Economy (1884) was a widely translated textbook, and A History of Economic Doctrines (1909), written with Charles Rist, became the standard survey of its subject for two generations. He was the uncle of the novelist André Gide, whom he helped bring up.
