B. H. Roberts

Brigham Henry Roberts (1857–1933) was a historian, theologian and leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Born in Warrington, England, he emigrated to Utah as a boy, crossing the plains largely on foot, and worked as a blacksmith before becoming a missionary, editor and one of the presidents of the First Council of the Seventy. In 1898 he was elected to the United States House of Representatives but was denied his seat because he practiced plural marriage. His many books include New Witnesses for God, The Gospel and the six-volume Comprehensive History of the Church.
