Andrew Murray

Andrew Murray (1828–1917) was a South African minister and devotional writer. Born at Graaff-Reinet in the Cape Colony to a Scottish father who served the Dutch Reformed Church, he was educated in Aberdeen and Utrecht and returned to minister to congregations from the Orange River frontier to Wellington, where he founded schools and a training institute for missionaries. He was several times moderator of his church's synod and a leader of revival and missionary movements. His many books on prayer and the inner life, among them Abide in Christ, With Christ in the School of Prayer and Holy in Christ, were translated widely.
